Superb Bathroom Storage

Superb Bathroom Storage

This master bath had huge mirrors, which, therefore, made it look large.  In reality, the design was a mess.  And because of the lack of good storage, the countertops were piled with all manner of products.  Notice all the “stuff” on the countertop.  Not very functional, at all. The remodeled bath is both gorgeous to look at and far more useful. Well-placed cabinets provide easily accessed storage and made overall feel warm and inviting. Scroll down to see how bad the “Before” situation looked.

Makeup With a View

Makeup With a View

This bath was seriously outdated! Cramped! Leaky!  In the end, it was the leak that sparked this major bathroom remodeling. Removing the little-used tub allowed a much larger shower to be created. The old vanity location became “His,” while a new “Hers” vanity featured storage that is both beautiful to look at and functional to use.  A window was installed above the new makeup center to make it feel open and inviting.

Large, Walk-in Shower

Large, Walk-in Shower

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve removed seldom used garden tubs – in baths with telephone-booth-sized showers – and created really roomy walk-in showers.  This bath is a perfect example of this.  The vanity area was left in roughly the same location, albeit with an updated look.  The tiny shower is now a much-needed linen closet, as is a matching closet on the left.  The new shower is large enough that a door isn’t required.  The large pane of glass provides all the enclosure that’s needed.  Step over the threshold and you’re ready to go.

An Elegant, Large, Master Bath

An Elegant, Large, Master Bath

The existing bathroom in this townhouse was serviceable…just ugly. The interior space of the whole townhouse was completely reconfigured to create a new, more livable environment.  In the process, enough space was captured to create this phenomenal master bath. Not only is it a joy to use, but its elegance is wonderful to behold.  No creature comfort was passed up.  Even the tile floors and seating in the shower are heated for maximum comfort.

Creating a More Intimate Bath

Creating a More Intimate Bath

This master bath had a garden tub that was rarely used.  It also contributed, along with the huge mirror, to a stadium-like feel.  The tub was eliminated and a roomy shower built in its place.  The unusable make-up area has been filled with much-needed drawers for storage. The bath is now warmer, more intimate, and in human-scale.  And, of course, there is plenty of room for all the normal stuff that typically clutters up a bath.

A Walk-in Shower to Die For

A Walk-in Shower to Die For

Cramped, dated, miserable – a few of the choice words the homeowners used to describe the existing master bath. Several feet were stolen from an overly large bedroom to deliver this stunning transformation, which included an expanded closet, as well. The 8′ X 5′ walk-in shower features two stations that are independently controlled, plus a hand-held unit near the bench.  A solar skylight fills the shower with sunshine and brightness throughout the morning until the end of the day.
